Active Warrant, Schedule Walk Through
If you have a warrant for your arrest because you failed to appear in court, it is possible to have the warrant cleared without having to turn yourself in to the jail. If a person has an attorney who is able to post bonds, then the attorney can go with his client to the courthouse and turn them in to the court where the charge originates from. If the bond hasn’t already been set, the attorney (me) can ask the judge to set a reasonable bond for our client. The judges will typically set a bond for the attorney and then the individual can be processed at the Sheriff’s satellite office located in the courthouse. Only attorneys who write bonds can take advantage of this procedure.
The attorney walks with their client to the Sheriff’s office and the bond is processed there in about an hour. There is no visit to the jail, there is no long booking process. Everything is done at the courthouse and the person is processed and released. The same process take at least 24 hours if the person is arrested on the street and taken in to the jail. They will normally have to spend a night in jail before they get released.
Once the bond is processed at the courthouse, the client leaves with his attorney and they wait to appear at their first court date. The process of processing the bond at the courthouse is called a “walk-through”.
We do not charge any additional fees for the “walk-through” service. This is a service provided to our clients as part of our representation. Most people can usually get their bonds processed during their lunch hour. Their cars don’t get impounded and they don’t have to pay impound fees. The client never steps foot in the jail.
